An explosive belt without a detonator was found Monday in The South of Paris. The location of the belt was close to a phone used by Salah Abdeslam, who is suspected to be the one of the attackers of Friday the 13th’s coordinated attacks in Paris, which left 130 people dead, more than 300 wounded.

Abdeslam has been on the run since the night of the attack. Law authorities from all over the world are looking for him, but he is totally off the grid. French and Belgian forces have intensified their search for the terrorist resulting 8 of the terrorists detained in France, 16 in Belgium.

Straight after the attacks, Islamic State (IS, formerly known as ISIS or ISIL) took responsibility for it. IS said it had targeted the Stade de France soccer stadium, the Bataclan concert hall, the 10th, 11th ad 18th district. But there were no reports of shootings or explosions in the 18th district.

Abdeslam’s cell phone was detected on November 13, by a mobile phone mast in Chatillon, South of Paris, near where the explosive belt was found.

According to New York Post’s report, a source close to the French investigators said it is too soon to say whether the belt is related with Abdeslam or not. New York Post made a quote from a police source. “The thesis that he abandoned (the attack) is just coming from people who brought him back (to Belgium). But we don’t know why. Maybe he had a technical problem with his explosive belt, for example,”

While the hunt for the terrorists is still in operation, French nuclear-powered aircraft carrier ‘Charles De Gaulle’ launched series of attacks with its fighter jets bombing IS structures Monday, in coalition with U.S. and Russian forces.
