Merger of 2 Samsung Group units launched

Top executives of a merger of two companies affiliated with Samsung Group pose for photographers during a ceremony to launch the merged entity, new Samsung C&T, at the office of Samsung Electronics in Seocho-dong, southern Seoul, Wednesday. They are, from left, Kim Shin, chief of the merged entity's trading unit: Choi Chi-hun, head of the construction unit; Kim Bong-yung, chief of the resort & construction division; and Yoon Joo-hwa, head of the fashion unit. Samsung C&T, the conglomerate's construction arm, acquired Cheil Industries, the apparel & resort unit, for 8.9 trillion won (approximately US$7.5 billion).
