South Korean girl group KARA's new Japanese album "Summergic" instantly topped the Oricon daily singles chart upon its release Tuesday, according to the group's management agency in Seoul.

"Summergic," the 12th single album in Japanese by KARA, sold about 28,000 copies on the day of its release, the agency, DSP Media, said Wednesday.

The album has three title tracks "Summgegic," "Sunshine Miracle" and Sunny Days."

A quartet, KARA is composed of Park Gyu-ri, Han Seung-yeon, Goo Ha-ra and Heo Young-ji. Heo joined the group in July last year in her capacity as winner of the cable TV MBC Music's audition program, "KARA project-KARA The Beginning." KARA had been a three-member band since Kang Ji-young and Nicole bolted from the group in early 2014.
