Kia Motors' 2015 Sedona minivan is a recipient of the highest safety rating in collision tests conducted by a U.S. highway safety agency.

The Sedona, known as the Carnival on its home turf, South Korea, received the highest rating of five stars in overall, frontal crash and side crash, and four stars in rollover tests carried out by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The U.S. agency's five-star rating of the 2015 Sedona is a "testament to Kia's commitment to safety," Kia Motors America said in a press release, adding: "The Sedona is all-new for 2015 and combines CUV-like styling, inside and out, with exceptional quality and the tremendous value our brand is known for."

The NHTSA says that starting with 2011 models, it introduced tougher tests and rigorous new 5-Star Safety Ratings that provide more information about safety feature performance and crash avoidance technologies.
