The 8th Asia-Pacific Financial Forum (APFF) opened in Seoul Wednesday, under the theme of "Growth Strategy of Financial Industry in 3C (Creativity, Convergence and Challenge) Era."

The agenda for the APFF underway at Seoul Plaza Hotel includes the global financial market in the 3C era and China's financial industry which has been changing fast, as well as ways to facilitate the growth of Korea's financial industry and prospects of the "fin-tech" trend, one of the hottest topics in Korea's financial circles. Fin-tech is a coined term of financial and technology.

The annual forum is jointly hosted by The Aju News Corporation and the Hongkong Wenweipo Media Group.

In his opening speech at the 2015 APFF, Aju News Corporation President Kwak Young-kil said: "We are gathered here at the 2015 Asia-Pacific Financial Forum at a time when the global financial market is facing a paradigm shift following the world’s financial crisis."

He said that "to help the financial industry mired in low growth attain a takeoff again, we need creative financial mindedness; convergence, a part of the latest trend in the financial market; and challenge, at the moment."

Noting that many countries have recently eased their monetary policies which triggered a global currency war, Kwak said: "Under these circumstances, this forum will suggest ways to spur reform, a requirement for the improvement of Korea’s financial market, and take a view of the 'fin-tech' trend."

In particular, the forum will suggest new alternative strategies for Korea’s financial industry based on an in-depth analysis of China’s huge financial market which has been growing fast, he said. The 2015 APFF ends on Friday.
