South Korea's manufacturing business confidence rebounded for the second quarter of this year, a survey showed Tuesday.

The business survey index (BSI) for the April-June period stood at 97, up 14 points from 83 for the previous quarter, according to the poll of 2,428 manufacturers, which was conducted by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI). A BSI reading above 100 means optimists outnumber pessimists and a BSI reading below 100 means otherwise.

The BSI has dropped since the July-September period last year.

The index for the second quarter reached 99 for large manufacturing companies, higher than 96 for small and medium-sized manufacturers.
