S. Korea world's largest per-capita noodle-consuming country

South Koreans ate 9.73 kilograms of noodles, except for pasta, per person last year, becoming the largest per-capita noodle-consuming country in the world, reports said.

The amount represents a 0.8 percent rise from the previous year.

Asian countries swept the global top 10. Japan came in second with 9.44 kilograms of per-capita noodle consumption, followed by Indonesia (5.81 kilograms), China (5.03 kilograms) and Vietnam (4.72 kilograms), according to the reports published by Bloomberg News and market research firm Euromonitor. 

The amount of noodles eaten by Asians accounted for 85 percent of the world's total. 

When it comes to pasta, Italy took the top spot with 21.4 kilograms, trailed by Tunisia (13.3 kilograms), Greece (9.8 kilograms), Switzerland (9.0 kilograms), Argentina and Croatia (8.6 kilograms each) and Iran (8 kilograms).
