South Korea's beer imports hit all-time high of 118 million liters in 2014

The amount of beer imported by South Korea hit an all-time high in 2014, while growth in wine imports slowed, government data showed Friday.
 
According to the data complied by the Korea Customs Service, the country imported 118 million liters of beer last year, up 24.5 percent from the previous year.

Japanese beer took the top spot with 27 percent of the total beer imports in 2014, while Germany and the Netherlands tied for second place with 15 percent.

Beer imports have soared by an annual average of 25.9 percent since 2010.

Meanwhile, imports of wine increased merely 1 percent to 33 million liters on-year in 2014, compared with an annual average growth rate of 10.1 percent recorded between 2010 and 2013, the data said. 

Chile was the largest exporter of wine to South Korea with a 26 percent share, followed by Spain (21 percent) and Italy (15 percent).
