Ridley Scott's film "Exodus: Gods and Kings" will hit screens in South Korea on Dec. 3, according to its local distributor, 20th Century Fox Korea.

Based on the book of "Exodus," the biblical adaptation stars Christian Bale who plays Moses and Joel Edgerton as the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses.

A day before its opening, the Hollywood film placed second in the rankings of ticket pre-sales, a local box-office tracker said.

Its ticket pre-sales accounted for 22.6 percent of the total pre-sales during the run-up to Christmas, while Christopher Nolan's sci-fi epic "Interstellar" topped the rankings with 29.2 percent, said the Korean Film Council (KOFIC) that tracks box-office sales.

"Interstellar" has become a box-office hit in South Korea, by attracting more than 8.4 million moviegoers in a country with a population of about 50 million.
