Despite protests from North Korea, "The Interview," a Hollywood comedy about the assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, will open in 63 countries around the world, a U.S. broadcaster reported Friday.

The film will be released in the United States and Canada on Dec. 25, and in Britain and France early next year, the Voice of America (VOA) said.

The countries where the movie will screen include 31 European nations, 15 Middle East and African countries and 13 South American nations, the report said. South Korea has not been included in the list of countries for the film's opening.

The release of the movie was originally scheduled for October, but was delayed due to North Korea's strong protests following the trailer's release in June.
