Bayer Leverkusen's South Korean attacker Son Heung-min earned the nickname "Sonaldo," a term coined by combining his family name "Son" and "Ronaldo," the last name of Real Madrid's forward Cristiano Ronaldo, among his teammates.

Son welcomed the nickname. "I am delighted about this nickname since Cristiano Ronaldo is my role model," he said in an interview with ESPN, a U.S.-based global cable and satellite television channel, Friday.

He got the nickname as he has scored 10 goals in 17 competitive games for Leverkusen this season.

On Tuesday, Son scored twice in his side's 2-1 victory over Zenit St. Petersberg in the UEFA Champions League group C soccer match in St. Petersburg, Russia.
