Seoul falls one notch to 8th place in Global Financial Centers Index

The South capital city of Seoul moved down one notch to 8th place in the Global Financial Centers Index (GFCI) in September from six months earlier.

Zurich in Switzerland ranked 7th, down two notches from March in the biannual GFCI, while Boston placed ninth, down one notch from six months earlier, according to the biannual index published by the U.K.-based Z/Yen Group.  

Busan, South Korea's second largest city, fell one notch to 28th place, whereas Taipei jumped 28 notches to 27th place.

Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo remained at Nos. 3, 4 and 6, respectively.

San Francisco climbed five notches up to the No. 5 spot, while Washington, D.C. moved up three notches to 10th place. 

New York and London retained the Nos. 1 and 2 spot, respectively.
