The SK Wyverns, a South Korean professional baseball team which has failed to advance to the playoffs for the second straight season, Tuesday appointed Kim Yong-hee, its player development chief, as new manager.

Kim, 59, replaces Lee Man-soo who had taken over the Wyverns in the middle of the 2011 season.

Under a two-year contract struck with the Wyverns, Kim will receive 300 million won per season along with a 300 million won signing bonus, the team announced.
The team is based in Incheon, west of Seoul.

Kim was chosen as new manager as he is familiar with internal affairs in the team, the Wyverns said, noting that he has served as player development chief and also manager of the club's farm team for the past three years.
