Chinese coming for getting plastic surgery rise sharply

Chinese accounted for slightly over two-thirds of foreigners who visited South Korea last year to undergo plastic surgery, data showed Wednesday.

The number of Chinese who came for getting plastic surgery to enhance their look last year reached 16,282 or 67.6 percent of the total 24,075 visitors, according to the data submitted to Rep. Nam Yun In-soon by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. The figure represents a 20-fold increase from 791 Chinese visitors tallied in 2009. 

Japanese came in a distant second with 5.7 percent, a sharp fall from 15.1 percent in 2011, the data said. 

Americans ranked third with 4.3 percent, followed by Russians (3.6 percent).
