BMW's brand value moves up 4 notches to 5th place in 3rd quarter: Brand Stock

German automobile manufacturing company BMW's brand value in South Korea moved up four notches to fifth place in the third quarter from the previous quarter, a brand value evaluating company said Tuesday.

BMW scored 906 out of 1,000 points in its Brand Stock Top Index (BSTI) for the July-September period, rising four notches from ninth place in the April-June period, the company, Brand Stock, said. BMW placed 20th in the first quarter. 

Samsung Galaxy smartphone retained the top spot with 936 points, while retailer E-Mart and mobile messenger Kakao Talk remained at No. 2 and No. 3 with 922 and 917, respectively.

Lotte Department Store moved up two notches to fourth place in the third quarter from sixth place three months ago. 

Shin Ramyon instant noodle climbed to sixth from 12th, thanks to its robust sales in China amid hallyu (Korean Wave) fever abroad, whereas Korean Air moved down two notches to seventh place.

Also included in the top 10 were Lotte World Adventure, soju brand Cham Iseul and Shinhan Card.
