South Korean actor Ji Chang-wook successfully held his first fan meeting in Taiwan on Aug. 30, thanks to his growing popularity for his role in the historical television series “Empress Ki,” a publicity and marketing company in Seoul said Wednesday.

The fan meeting, which held at the Taipei International Convention Center (TICC) under the title of “I’m in Taiwan,” drew about 2,000 fans, according to the company, Y Tree Media.

The drama starring Ha Ji-won as the titular Empress Ki recorded an average viewer rating of 4.4 percent in Taiwan, the highest among imported programs aired this year, it said.

In the drama, Ji plays Huizong (1320-1370), the 16th emperor of China’s Yuan Dynasty who marries tomboyish and charismatic Ki who was born in Korea’s Goryeo Kingdom.
