314 films to be presented during Busan Int’l Film Festival

The upcoming Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) will screen 314 films from 79 countries around the world, organizers said Tuesday.

The movies to be presented during the 19th BIFF include 98 world premieres, 36 international premieres and 12 movies in the “New Currents” category, they said.

"Paradise in Service" by Taiwanese director Doze Niu will open the annual film festival set to open at the Busan Cinema Center on Oct. 2 for a 10-day run.

Among those invited to attend this year’s BIFF are Chinese directors Ann Hui, Peter Chan and Zhang Yimou, Hungarian director Bela Tarr and Chinese actress Tang Wei. South Korean participants in the event will include directors Bong Joon-ho and Im Kwon-taek; actor Ahn Sung-ki; and actress Moon So-ri, organizers said.
