"The Pirates," a South Korean comedy-action film, topped the reservation list for this weekend, the Korean Film Council (KOFIC) said Friday.

The film starring actress Son Ye-jin and actor Kim Nam-gil accounted for 18.4 percent of movie reservations for the weekend, followed by Hollywood blockbuster “Into the Storm” with 15.5 percent, according to KOFIC that tracks box-office sales.

"The Pirates" is expected to surpass the 7 million viewer mark during the weekend. It attracted 6.41 million moviegoers as of Aug. 28, the 23rd day since its release.

“Begin Again,” an American musical drama film directed by John Carney, took the third spot with 12.2 percent of reservations, followed by South Korean mega-hit “Roaring Currents” with 10.9 percent, and Hollywood science-fiction, action-comedy film "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” starring actress Megan Fox with 10.6 percent.

“Roaring Currents,” a movie about a crushing victory Adm. Yi Sun-sin won over Japanese invaders during the late 16th century, has drawn more than 16 million viewers since its release on July 30.
