Rory McIlroy retains top spot in men's golf rankings

Tiger Woods moved down one notch to 11th place in the men's world golf rankings released on Aug. 11.

Woods returned to the No. 1 spot in March last year, and retained the title until last May. He ranked 10th last week.

Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland, winner of the PGA Championship golf tournament at Valhalla Golf Club on Aug. 10 in Louisville, Ky., retained the top spot, while Adam Scott of Australia remained at No. 2.

Henrik Stenson of Sweden, who tied for third place at the PGA Championship, moved up one notch to third place, whereas Sergio Garcia of Spain fell by one notch to rank fourth.

Phil Mickelson of the United States, who finished second at the PGA Championship, climbed four notches to ninth place.

South Korean-born American Kevin Na ranked 36th, while K.J. Choi of South Korea placed 73rd.
