According to Clarkson, South Korean shipbuilders won orders for 1,399,000 compensated gross tons (CGTs) or 42.2 percent of the global shipbuilding market last month.
The comparable figure stood at 1,223,000 CGTs or 37.5 percent for China. Japan took a market share of 3.5 percent.
Orders clinched by South Korean dockyards in the first seven months of 2014 reached 7,245,000 CGTs or 28.6 percent of the total, compared with 11,366,000 CGTs or 44.9 percent for China.
