South Korea posted a trade surplus for the 30th straight month in July, helped by robust shipments to advanced countries, the government reported Friday.

The trade surplus totaled $2.52 billion, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

Exports amounted to $48.42 billion, up 5.7 percent from the same month of last year, while imports rose 5.8 percent on-year to $45.90 billion, the report said.

The export growth was led by wireless telecommunication equipment, steel products and automobiles, it said.
