In a news conference in Moscow, the 68-year-old Italian was quoted as saying that he would not resign as Russia’s football federation and sports ministry still trust him.
“However, if their trust in me disappears, I will not hesitate to step down,” he said, adding that he was ready to do so.
Capello received lots of boos from fans when he attended a Russian Super Cup football match on June 26, according to media reports.
Russia went winless in Group H preliminary matches in the Brazil World Cup, with two draws and a loss.
