South Korea's central bank said Thursday it will issue commemorative coins on Sept. 30 to celebrate Pope Francis' visit to the country scheduled for Aug. 14-18.

Two designs have been struck, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK). The silver and gilt-covered copper coins will be issued in 30,000 and 60,000 copies, respectively. The former is priced at 50,000 won and the latter at 10,000 won. Each of them measures 33mm in diameter.

Pre-sales will be available on sites and offices of the Woori and Nonghyup Banks from Aug. 11 to Aug. 22, the BOK said.

During his visit, Pope Francis will hold a beatification ceremony for 124 Korean martyrs Pope Francis and attend a meeting of Asian Catholic youths in Daejeon and nearby South Chungcheong areas.

Pope Francis would be the second pontiff to visit South Korea. The late Pope John Paul II traveled to the country twice – one in 1984 and the other in 1989.
