James Rodriguez’s volley for Colombia against Uruguay has been voted as the “Goal of the 2014 FIFA World Cup” in Brazil by more than 4 million football fans worldwide, the world’s football governing body said on Tuesday.

Rodriguez chested the ball over his head and unleashed a volley in the 28th minute during their round of 16 soccer match. Colombia won 2-0 over Uruguay and qualified for the quarter-finals.

In the FIFA.com vote, Rodriguez's volley beat out a diving header Holland's Robin van Persie scored during the Group B preliminary round match between Holland and Spain.

Rodriguez won the race for top goal-getter in Brazil, with six goals and two assists, while Persie scored four goals.
