Venezuela failed to qualify for the 2014 World Cup finals, yet it places 30th in the latest FIFA rankings, higher than the 56th-ranked South Korea.
South Korea is also expected to play a friendly match against sixth-ranked Uruguay on Sept. 9, sources at the country’s football governing body said.
The friendlies are part of the team’s preparations for the 2015 Asian Cup tournament to be held in Australia in January.
The post of head coach for the national football squad has been vacant since Hong Myung-bo resigned on July 10 to take responsibilities for the team’s poor performance at the Brazil World Cup.
South Korea lost two matches and tied one game in the Group H preliminary round, its worst World Cup performance since 1998.
