With the rainy season forecast to begin later this week, divers made little progress in their search for 12 people still missing in the deadly sinking of the ferry Sewol in mid-April for the 10th straight day on Wednesday, officials said.

The upcoming rainy spell is feared to hamper search efforts for those who remain missing, the officials said.

The latest news of a body retrieval came on June 8, bringing the total number of those confirmed dead to 292. Many of the victims were schoolchildren who were on a field trip.

Divers resumed search operations early Wednesday, but failed to recover any body, the officials said.

The ferry sank in waters off the country’s southwestern island of Jindo en route from Incheon, about 40km west of Seoul, to the southern resort island of Jeju. Of the 476 people aboard, 272 people were rescued.
