Portland is called Rose City because it has a lot roses through the city.
Roses usually start to bloom in May or June depending on the weather condition.
Portland City planted a lot of roses along the road and parkways in town. When you visit Portland in summer, you can see and smell a lot of roses.
Portland also has a festival called Rose Festival. It goes from late May to early June every year. It is the oldest Rose Festival in the US and it shows how important roses are in the city's history.
Even the stadium of Portland Trailblazers' basketball team was called Rose Garden.
And there is an international rose test garden in Portland. If you go this place, you can see all kinds of roses.
