A South Korean film will compete in the students’ division of the 67th Cannes International Film Festival, organizers said Thursday.

"Soom (Breath)," directed by Kwon Hyun-ju, a student of Chung-Ang University in Seoul, was chosen as one of the 16 finalists for Cinefondation category, the Cannes Film Festival organization said on its website.

They were selected from among 1,631 entries.

“Soom,” a 30-minute film, depicts the complicated mentality of a daughter who has taken care of her mother suffering brain death.
