Korean Air, a national flag carrier, said Tuesday it will resume flights to and from Irkutsk in Russian Siberia beginning on May 19.

The carrier said it plans to operate two flights per week - Mondays and Fridays - on the Incheon-Irkutsk route until Oct. 25.

Since June 2011, Korean Air has operated flights to and from Irkutsk during the warmer months because of harsh weather conditions.

It will deploy the twin-engined B737-900ER jet with 159 seats on the route.

The departing flight from Incheon International Airport leaves at 8:50 p.m. and arrives in Irkutsk at 01:05 a.m. The returning flight from Irkutsk departs at 03:15 a.m. and arrives in Incheon at 6:55 a.m.
